About the Artist

John McCoyAbout Me
My mechanical and artistic instincts blossomed in me before I was 6, and by 8 I knew that I wanted to make great things with my hands as an entrepreneur. It would take another 30 years and two careers for this dream to come true, and now every day is a new stride of progress. If you have ever wondered whether various side roads were a waste in your life, chances are good that they were not when you find a true purpose. My years as a master bicycle mechanic, salesman, writer and more than a dozen as a technology and internet marketer were not wasted, as I use these skills and many others every day.

I make art for a great life, not just to make a living. Balancing what I love with what I need is an odyssey in itself that fascinates me - even when I'm working hard.

About My Art
The art I make has two main flavors: custom sculpture and fine art. I make custom sculpture, described in that section of the site, as a great way to connect what I love with a viable living. While most artists starve for their art, I thrive, simply because I enjoy the challenges of translating other people's visions into reality with my own unique style. Doing so keeps me active in art rather than waiting for customers, and it hones my skills constantly with opportunities that I would never have thought of on my own.

My current slate of fine art focuses on my technique called Flashcasting - spraying molten metal into molds from live models. With these pieces I seek to connect universal mysteries such as mythology, divine entities, fractals and ancient languages into physical form. Moving forward, I am developing a series of kinetic art that I believe will redefine that discipline.
